About Me

Hi, I’m Tracey – the permanently frazzled human behind One Frazzled Dog.

I live in the North West, not too far from Liverpool, with my daughter Olivia (born March 2006). By day, I’m a content writer. By night, weekends, and honestly every other moment, I’m cleaning up paw prints, picking dog hair out of my tea, and wondering if the sofa will ever bounce back to its original shape.

What’s with the name?

If you’ve seen me online before, you’ll know the “frazzled” theme is nothing new. My main blog, One Frazzled Mum, has been around for over 12 years, and over time it’s collected a few siblings – One Frazzled Fibro, One Frazzled Fiction, and BizBreakdown.

Frazzled just sums me up. Life has always been a little messy, a little loud, and usually running a step behind schedule. So when it came to starting a blog about dogs, sticking with the name felt right – because if anything guarantees more glorious chaos, it’s dogs.

Why One Frazzled Dog?

Tegan. Beagle. Adopted Jan 2022. Passed peacefully in her sleep February 2024.

In January 2022 we adopted our first family dog, Tegan – a 12-year-old beagle with more personality than sense. She was beautiful, stubborn, and utterly set in her ways. Within weeks she’d schooled us in reactivity, resource guarding, the fine art of refusing medication, and how to turn mealtimes into an Olympic sport.

She ran the house, and we adored her for it. Sadly, in February 2023, she passed away peacefully in her sleep while awaiting tests for suspected cancer. We weren’t ready to lose her, and she left a huge hole in our lives.

Where We Are Now

Two weeks later, Sophie, a 10-year-old beagle, arrived as our very first foster dog through Dogs Trust. That was the start of a new chapter – and we’ve been fostering ever since.

At the time of writing, we’re two and a half years in and on foster number 14. We’ve looked after three beagles (Sophie our first was returned and came right back to use nearly a year after beign adotped), one English bulldog, four French bulldogs, a Lhasa Apso–Dalmatian cross, a pomeranian, a chihuahua, a staffie, and a shih tzu. Some stay a few weeks, some a little longer – all of them bring their own quirks, challenges, and charm.

We do have a definite soft spot for beagles and English bulldogs – both stubborn, both chaotic, both endlessly fun. But we’ve loved them all in their own way.

Fostering isn’t always easy. We’ve lost three foster dogs to poor health, as well as our own Tegan. Each loss has been heartbreaking. But each dog has also left behind paw prints, laughter, and memories we’ll never forget.

It’s emotional, it’s exhausting, it’s occasionally ridiculous – and it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done.

One Frazzled Dog is part diary, part resource, and part celebration of the dogs who’ve turned our world upside down – in the best way possible. If you’re here to laugh, learn, or just follow along with the next set of muddy paw prints through our hallway, you’re in the right place.
